The Man Behind the Name
The Webb Center is named for Del E. Webb, one of the visionaries who helped shape modern Arizona.
When Webb arrived in Phoenix in 1928, he was a young carpenter looking for opportunity. From humble beginnings, he built one of the nation’s most respected construction companies. During World War II, his company was entrusted with building military air bases and installations across Arizona and the Southwest, helping support the nation’s wartime effort. In the decades that followed, Webb’s company built hospitals, schools, hotels and entire communities, including Sun City, America’s first master-planned retirement community.
That spirit lives on at the Webb Center.
More than a theater, it is a gathering place where students discover the arts, audiences share unforgettable performances and neighbors connect through experiences that enrich community life. It is a legacy Del E. Webb would have recognized: building something that serves generations to come.
Built for Wickenburg
When the Webb Center opened its doors in 2001, it was envisioned as more than a performance venue. Created through a partnership with the Wickenburg Unified School District, it was built to enrich the lives of students, residents and visitors through the performing arts.
Today, the 600-seat theater hosts nationally acclaimed artists alongside local performers, while serving as a gathering place for concerts, dance, theater, educational programs and community celebrations. More than two decades later, the Webb Center continues to fulfill its original purpose: bringing people together through shared experiences that inspire, entertain and connect.
