Pink Martini All-Stars Shine with Their Globe-Trotting Sound

The Webb Center is proud to welcome Pink Martini back for their fifth appearance in Wickenburg. The Portland, Oregon-based “little orchestra” has spent more than three decades charming audiences around the world with its distinctive blend of classic pop, retro jazz, and big band sound. On Thursday, March 26, at 7:30 p.m., the internationally celebrated ensemble returns with three featured vocalists, Ari Shapiro, Edna Vazquez, and Jimmie Herrod, for an evening that promises joy, elegance, and Hollywood glamour.

Led by founder and pianist Thomas Lauderdale, Pink Martini performs with more than a dozen musicians, creating a rich and theatrical sound that moves effortlessly across styles and eras. A single evening might travel from a French lullaby to a Brazilian samba to a beloved Cole Porter standard, with songs in over a dozen languages. The music feels worldly yet intimate, polished and playful. It is the kind of concert where the entire room leans in together, discovering something new while enjoying melodies that feel timeless and familiar.

Featured vocalist Ari Shapiro first joined Pink Martini in 2009 with a debut performance at the Hollywood Bowl. In addition to touring internationally with the band, Shapiro has built a reputation as an NPR journalist as well as a celebrated cabaret career, creating original solo shows and performing for six years alongside Tony and Emmy Award-winner Alan Cumming. His stage presence is charismatic, witty, and deeply musical.

Edna Vazquez, born in Jalisco, Mexico and now based in Portland, brings a radiant and expressive voice shaped by her roots in Latin music and contemporary songwriting. A singer, guitarist, and composer, she has performed at the Lincoln Center and collaborated with Pink Martini on the album “Besame Mucho.” Her performances are spirited, heartfelt, and filled with authenticity.

Jimmie Herrod, a vocalist known for his supple tone and remarkable range, gained national attention during his memorable run on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” in 2021. A longtime touring member of Pink Martini, he also recorded the EP “Tomorrow” with the group. Whether delivering a tender ballad or an exuberant showstopper, Herrod’s voice brings emotional depth and brilliance to the stage.
