The Kingston Trio Brings Timeless Folk Harmony to the Webb Center

Formed in 1957 in the San Francisco Bay Area by college friends Dave Guard, Bob Shane, and Nick Reynolds, TKT rose to fame almost overnight. Their chart-topping hit “Tom Dooley” sold more than three million copies, won a Grammy Award, and helped bring acoustic music into the mainstream. By 1959, the Trio had four albums simultaneously on the Billboard’s Top Ten, a record that remained unbroken for decades. Their heartfelt lyrics, humor, and harmonies connected audiences across generations and paved the way for artists such as Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, and Paul Simon.

While their sound has evolved through the years, today’s Kingston Trio is comprised of Reynolds’ “adopted son” Mike Marvin (guitar, banjo), Tim Gorelangton (guitar, banjo), and Buddy Woodward (guitar).
